Sick of sickness

My poor hubby has been sick for almost 2 weeks.  February is a hard month, he works EVERY weekend.  As a result, he is overtired and over stressed so his body wear down and he gets sick.  I hate when the hubs is sick.  It has always upset me.  I don't like it when anyone in the fam is sick, but it really makes my heart sad to see him under the weather, especially when there is nothing I can do about it.

Besides the emotional distress of seeing my poor spouse sleep deprived from work/illness is the added stress of being the solo parent.  When he does have down time I encourage him to rest as that is what he needs to recuperate, but on the flip side of that there is me burning both ends of the candle.  It hasn't always been this crazy, but as the girls get older and more involved in things, it gets harder to keep up.  We have a good system in place, a good balance of which h one of us takes care of which activites...so when illness crops up...it throws us into chaos.

Now I have been absent from both blogs as a result, am feeling run down myself and as I type this am using the power of positive thinking to keep myself healthy.  "you will not get sick, you will not get sick, you will not get sick."

Anyone else have these dilemmas?

Giveaway!!!

This is day two of my tummy feeling less then stellar, but I am determined to win this battle.  I did an awesome boot camp workout on Monday, so the plan tonight is a strength workout.  I am hoping if I keep the cardio at a minimum it will help keep my nausea at bay.  I hate being under the weather, which seems to happen a lot when I start to get back on track.  I think the good stuff is such a shock to my system after being off that it goes a little berserk which is why I am determined to not let it stop me today.

For those of you who haven't liked the W&M facebook page, let me tell you that you are missing out!  In conjunction with my sweet little home based business (Ardeline Arts & Crafts) that I mentioned in my Friend Making Monday post from this past Monday (ok, lets be honest that I have mentioned a lot hee hee)...I am offering the first of (hopefully) many giveaways!  Just stop by and like the Waits and Measure(ment)s facebook page, share the page with a friend and comment back that you did and you will be entered to win a free custom autumn subway art!

Keep sharing and spreading the blog love!

Knocking on Wood

Well, I'm almost afraid to say it but I think, THINK, we may be coming out of the woods on all our illnesses.  Stomach bugs have passed through both my hubby and myself (pardon the pun), the sore throat has left my oldest, the cough is gone from my hubby and almost completely gone from me...the only concern on our horizon right now is that my youngest was exposed to Scarlet fever at pre-school last week.  That little gem of a note was in our cubby Monday morning.  Great.  Scarlet Fever.  Like I said, I'm knocking on wood.

I am feeling SO much better, and have been surprised that after all the ick has left and my appetite has returned that the number on the scale has stayed down.  Maybe there was something bad in there that needed a good stomach virus to push it out to get me on a better target.  Or...(and I realize this is more likely), it could be that since I haven't been over to the gym in a while due to all the illness I am losing muscle mass which weighs more and therefore seeing a smaller number on the scale?!?!  No, I like the first option much better. :)  To be fair, I had been starting to do better about watching what I eat, and am still doing fairly well in that department.

I am just glad to be feeling healthy again and look forward to getting back on track.

Hello Mr. Ick

How many of you remember this guy?  Mr. Ick.  When I was a kid, my mom had his sour green face plastered on all sorts of stuff to make sure I knew not to touch.  Well, this little stinker made an unexpected return to my life the past two days.  Stomach bug!  ICK!

There are few things in the world worst to me then vomiting.  There has only been one time in my life when I was "ok" with this form of torture from my body and that was while I was pregnant.  For seven luxurious weeks I had morning sickness.  I am the poster girl for the misnomer too i must say, it isn't something that only hits in the morning.  Seven weeks, seven days a week, anytime and anywhere, but that is another story.

I was FINALLY starting to feel better after all the respiratory nastiness that has cruised through my house and then this.  It is awful.  I even tried braving it at work this morning.  Got in my car, still feeling dizzy a bit, and made it to work.  Stayed for a few hours then had to go.  I feel like no matter how much I clean...winter is a cesspool and my house is a petri dish.  Can't wait to open windows and air out the house in a few more weeks.

on the "up" side (if you can call it that, I was down another 3.5 pounds on the scale.  I have to wonder how much is how well I've been watching and counting the past few days, and how much is a result of the unwelcome freeloader.

Here's to feeling better!
